At a press conference held Friday afternoon, August 12, Spring Valley Chief of Police Richard Oleszcuk announced the arrest of two Haverstraw residents in connection with the July 8 murder of seventeen-year-old Spring Valley resident Treynahel Cineus.
The two were picked up at Westchester County jail, where they were already being held on separate unrelated charges. These arrests were made after the July 21 arrest of 23-year-old Haverstraw resident Anthony Mitchell also for the murder of Treynahel Cineus.
All three were arraigned in the Rockland County Supreme Court and charged with murder in the second degree, attempted murder in the second degree, and criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree.
“In Rockland County, there are eight police departments, a sheriffs office, and a district attorneys office,” Sheriff Lou Falco shared at the press conference. “When it comes to major crimes like this, we all move as one. We all come together as one.
Whatever is needed, it’s all hands on deck.”
“With the arrest of these three individuals, we begin the process of seeking justice for Treynahel,” said District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh. “We can never, never replace Treynahel, but we can now start to seek justice for him and his family.”
