Horrific Accident on Palisades Claims Four Lives, More Severely Injured

A terrible accident on the Palisades Parkway last night claimed the lives of four people, and injured a number of others, some severely, when a shuttle van transporting a dozen passengers overturned in the center median of the Southbound lanes. 

Around 1:30 am, the Highway Police responded to the call in Englewood Cliffs, and found the Ford cargo van flipped over. Several victims were trapped and had to be extricated from the vehicle, according to the Highway Police.

Monsey Hatzolah volunteers passed by and stopped to assist moments after the accident occurred. They were the first EMS on scene.

Zevi Spitzer, the coordinator of New Square Emergency Services, also passed the scene and assisted the police in the rescue of the victims.

The deceased victims sustained significant trauma, and eight patients were transported to area hospitals. 

The Parkways was shut down for many hours as police conducted their investigation.
