Spring Valley Gunman Arrested in Reckless Shooting That Sent Bullets Into Apartments With Children

On July 22, 2025, the Spring Valley Police Department arrested 20-year-old Spring Valley resident Anderson J. Alvarado-Jimenez in connection with a shooting investigation that occurred at 60 E. Eckerson Rd on July 19, 2025, at approximately 9:51 PM.
The investigation revealed that Mr. Alvarado-Jimenez did discharge a .22 caliber revolver multiple times, striking a parked vehicle. Mr. Alvarado-Jimenez then left the scene and came back a short time later with an assault rifle and proceeded to shoot the parked vehicle twenty more times causing extensive damage.
Two of the bullets that Mr. Alvarado-Jimenez discharged entered nearby apartments where children were playing. Thankfully, no one was injured by the gun fire. The firearms used in this incident have been recovered by the New York State Police Under Water Recovery Team (URT) in the Town of Haverstraw.

Mr. Alvarado-Jimenez was charged with PL 265.08 (1) Criminal use of a firearm 2 nd degree, PL 265.03 (3) Criminal possession of a weapon 2nd degree, PL 120.25 Reckless endangerment 1st degree, PL 265.02 (7) Criminal Possession of a weapon 3rd degree, PL 265.02 (8) Criminal possession of a weapon 3rd degree, PL 145.05 (2) Criminal Mischief 3rd degree, PL 215.40 (2) Tampering with physical evidence, PL 265.01 (5) Criminal possession of a weapon 4th degree. Mr. Alvarado was held pending arraignment.
