Rockland Firefighters Respond to Verizon Building Fire in Orangeburg

The Orangeburg Fire Department dispatched firefighters this afternoon to the Verizon building on Kings Highway in Orangeburg after the automatic fire alarm in the building went off.
Upon arrival, firefighters noted a fire in the underground transformer vault. Firefighters stayed on location for two hours until the vault was deemed safe.
Mutual aid was provided from the Sparkill Palisades Fire Department and Pearl River’s Excelsior Engine Company 12. Rockland County Hazmat Task Force and the NYS Foam Task Force were also at the scene.
