Rockland County Legislators Host Forums to Gather Public Input on County’s Redistricting

Would you like to provide input as Rockland County considers how to re-draw its 17 county legislative districts based on the area’s significant population changes in the last 12 years?
While determining how to use the statistics from New York’s 2020 census, Rockland County Legislature’s Special Committee for Redistricting will be holding five public forums, starting today, to explain redistricting process, present its timeline, and to gather the public’s input.
Rockland County Legislature’s Special Committee for Redistricting seeks to redraw Rockland’s 17 county legislative districts to ensure that the county provides representation for the most current distribution of the area’s populations.
Rockland County’s population changes that go back to 2010 not only signal shifts in the sizes, shapes, and neighborhoods within some of the districts, but potentially could affect which elected officials are elected to represent residents, lohud reported.
Rockland County’s Redistricting forums will take place in the following locations and at the following times:
• On Wednesday, June 8, at 6pm, a forum will take place at Town Hall, at 26 Orangeburg Road, in Orangetown.
• On Thursday, June 9, at 7 pm, a forum will take place at Haverstraw Town Hall, 1 Rosman Road, Garnerville in Haverstraw.
• On Tuesday, June 21, at 6pm, a forum will take place at Rho Building, 5 Club House Lane in Stony Point.
• On Wednesday, June 29, at 6 pm, a forum will take place at Clarkstown Town Hall, 10 Maple Ave., in New City.
• On Thursday, June 30, at 6 pm, a forum will take place at Ramapo Town Hall at 237 Route 59 in Airmont.
