Senator Bill Weber Installs Fire Alarm During Safety Demonstration with American Red Cross

Today, Senator Bill Weber was joined by members of the American Red Cross Greater New York Region for a fire alarm installation at a home in the 38th Senate District. As part of a live safety demonstration, Senator Weber personally installed the alarm to help raise awareness about the Red Cross’s free smoke detector program.

The American Red Cross provides smoke alarms at no cost, along with free professional installation for any household in need—no limit per home. The alarms, which last up to ten years, are installed in every room that requires one.

Rockland County residents may request free smoke alarms directly through the Red Cross by filling out this form:  https://survey123.arcgis.com/share/e446a7012e0e405881b144cb8539966d

Residents may also contact Chaverim of Rockland at 845-371-6334 to arrange for installation.

Just last week, Senator Weber teamed up with the organization for the Five Towns of Rockland Blood Drive Challenge, an annual initiative to support local hospitals and save lives. In recognition of his efforts, the Red Cross named Senator Weber 2025 Legislator of the Year.

“I’m proud to partner with the American Red Cross, from fire safety to blood donations and so much more,” said Senator Weber. “Every family should feel safe in their home, and I encourage everyone to take advantage of this free program.”
