Hochul Announces Stolen Vehicle Recovery Efforts

As July, which is Vehicle Theft Prevention Month, comes to a close, Governor Hochul announced that the DMV has recovered 120 stolen vehicles with a total worth of $3.5 million during the first 6 months of the year.
These numbers are probably just a fraction of the total cars that get recovered since the local Jewish organizations work tirelessly in the community to return stolen vehicles to their rightful owners.
As car thefts spike across the country, New York has been stepping up its efforts to reduce car theft and recover vehicles that are stolen. Earlier this year the DMV sent letters to the owners of Kia and Hyundai to warn them about a spike in thefts of cars in their make and model. The state also launched a website with tips for car owners on how to prevent car theft.
“As cars and repairs get more expensive, auto theft is becoming a bigger problem, but our administration is taking aggressive action to protect New Yorkers and their property,” Governor Hochul said. “Not just this month, but all year long, we are working hard to prevent these crimes and provide New Yorkers with the knowledge necessary to safeguard themselves.”
