Haverstraw Police Press Conference On Arrest Of Homicide Suspect

Haverstraw Police Chief John Gould held a press
conference earlier today to provide details regarding the arrest of Yandie Martinez
in connection to the homicide that took place on July 1st in
Haverstraw.
Martinez has been on the run since July 1st, and detectives were able to track him down through social media sites that he was using. Leads during the search led police to New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Florida, North Carolina, and the Dominican Republic.
Following a long and comprehensive search with the assistance of multiple law enforcement agencies across state lines, Martinez was found hiding in an Airbnb in Piedmont, South Carolina and was arrested by South Carolina law enforcement on July 27th.
Police do not know what led to the altercation between Martinez and the victim and have also not yet recovered the weapon used in the homicide.
"Thanks to the hard work of the Town of Haverstraw Police Department, under the leadership of Chief Gould, the people of Haverstraw and Rockland County will feel safer and sleep better, due to the arrest on July 27th," Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Walsh commented at the press conference. "We are committed to seeking justice for the victim and his family, and holding Martinez fully accountable for his actions.
