From Water Access to Holocaust Remembrance: Wieder Leads with Action in Rockland

Assembly Member Aron Wieder has been actively engaging with community groups and organizations across Rockland County, demonstrating his commitment to fostering collaboration and addressing local needs. His recent efforts include supporting labor unions, preserving historical narratives, honoring public servants, and tackling infrastructure challenges through a key meeting with Veolia.
On Tuesday, Wieder attended a Rockland Boulders baseball game with Operating Engineers Local 825, connecting with key infrastructure workers. “I enjoyed the chance to demonstrate my support for the hardworking members of Operating Engineers Local 825,” Wieder stated. “I’m grateful for their invitation and proud to stand alongside such a committed group.”
Later that week, Wieder attended a significant event hosted by Project Witness at the Museum of Jewish Heritage in Manhattan. The occasion marked the world premiere of We Dare To Write, a documentary that illuminates the diaries and writings of the Holocaust’s youngest chroniclers. During the event, Wieder met Peter Feigl, a 96-year-old Holocaust survivor whose childhood diary was featured—a powerful moment of historical reflection. “It was a privilege to meet Peter Feigl and see these stories brought to life,” Wieder said. “Preserving these voices ensures we honor the resilience of those who faced unimaginable hardship.”
Wieder also attended a farewell event hosted by Rockland County for retiring public servant Jacqueline Sanders, where he presented her with a Certificate of Merit to honor her exceptional contributions to the county’s welfare and administration. “Jacqueline’s commitment to Rockland County has been exceptional,” Wieder noted. “It was an honor to celebrate her outstanding service and wish her well in retirement.”
On Thursday, Wieder hosted a productive meeting at his district office with Chris Graziano, Regional President of Veolia’s New York operations, and Sophia Salis, Director of Communications and Community Relations, joined by his Chief of Staff Shlomo Kertzner and Rafi Silverberg, Senior Advisor to Congressman Mike Lawler. Veolia, which manages water services in Rockland County, discussed pressing issues with Wieder, including strategies to assist residents facing disconnect notices and solutions to recent issues some residents were having with Veolia and the Department of Transportation (DoT). “This meeting marked an important step toward enhancing services for our residents,” Wieder said. “We are committed to collaborating with Veolia to deliver practical solutions and ensure a dependable future for Rockland.”
