AT&T Cyberattack Steals Customer Information
By Idy Perl
AT&T just notified its customers to a cybersecurity
breach that stole the phone records of all its 110 million customers. The
company clarified that the stolen data does not include the contents of text
messages and calls, or personal information like social security numbers, date
of births, or the like.
Apparently the cyberattack happened back in April of 2022,
but AT&T became aware of it only this past April. They are working with law
enforcement to find the hackers, and one person has already been arrested.
Cybersecurity experts warn that the information stolen from
such cyberattacks often end up on the dark web and are used for scams. They
urge AT&T customers to be aware of possible phone scams or phishing emails
and not to provide any personal information over the phone.
