Spring Valley Police Officer Saves Seizing Driver
On July 28th at approximately 3:30 PM, a Spring Valley police officer was on routine patrol, driving on N. Pascack Rd., in Spring Valley, when she was flagged down by someone reporting a possible motorist in distress. The officer activated her lights and siren and passed numerous vehicles stuck in traffic, in order to reach the vehicle in question.
Upon arrival, the officer immediately discovered a driver who was alone inside the car on the roadway and appeared to be suffering from a medical condition, possibly a seizure, but was still behind the wheel, with his foot on the brake, the car in “Drive” and all the doors locked.
The officer called for medical personnel and was able to break a window away from the driver with a baton, place the vehicle in park then, remove the victim from the car with the aid of bystanders and start rendering aid before medical personnel arrived a short time later.
The subject was transported to Nyack Hospital via ambulance for treatment.
