Am I required by law to mow my lawn to keep my neighbor happy? Chestnut Ridge Trustee Chaim Rose Responds
I have an anonymous neighbor who keeps harassing me by leaving notes in my mailbox anytime my grass gets too long for his taste, or because I have a tree limb down from the last storm. Money is tight in our house, and we lack the tools to deal with both of these issues on our own. Am I required by law to mow my lawn to keep my neighbor happy or to pay for having a heavy tree limb removed or is it none of Mr. Anonymous's business?
Thanks,
Out On A Limb in Chestnut Ridge
Dear Out on a Limb,
Mowing one's lawn is not only code but also enhances the curb appeal & quality of life for the entire neighborhood.
In addition, allowing a lawn to become overgrown is conducive to a growing tick population which can breed Lyme disease and be a real danger for children and adults alike. Lyme disease is no joke and can have serious complications for the rest of one's life Chas V'Sholom.
In addition, cutting your lawn is the menschliche thing to do after all.
May Hashem help that you and all of Klal Yisroel have a K'Siva V'Chasima Tova with much Parnasah, prosperity, and health. Amen
Chaim Rose
