$28.5 Million to Power Up NY’s EV Highways

Governor Kathy Hochul has announced an additional $28.5 million to help install fast chargers for electric vehicles (EVs) along major roads in New York State. The funding, from the federal National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure program, will focus on areas south of Interstate 84, including the lower Hudson Valley, New York City, and Long Island.
The goal is to make EV charging stations more available and reliable, encouraging more people to drive electric vehicles. “This funding will make charging quick and easy in areas with heavy traffic, helping reduce pollution and improve air quality,” said Governor Hochul.
The program will focus on locations along major highways like Interstate 87, Interstate 287, and others. The new chargers will charge at least four vehicles at a time and provide fast charging speeds of at least 150 kilowatts per vehicle.
This funding will make it easier for drivers to travel long distances in electric vehicles and help New York reduce pollution while promoting cleaner air.
