Winter Parking Ordinance In Effect

Winter Parking Ordinance In Effect

By Rockland Daily Staff

The annual Winter Parking Ordinance is in effect in most towns and villages across Rockland County until the end of April.

The regulations and start dates vary in different areas. In Ramapo, Airmont, Montebello, New Hempstead, Chestnut Ridge, Clarkstown and Stony Point the restrictions start on November 1st, while in Orangetown and Haverstraw it only goes into effect next week, on November 15th. In Hillburn the rules are only applicable when there is snow forecasted, while Wesley Hills and Pomona don't allow any street parking all year round.

During the winter months between the hours of 12-6AM, no parking is allowed on any local road or highway. Keeping the roads clear is necessary in order to allow the Highway Department to clear the roads in case of an overnight snowstorm.
