Shots Fired in Ramapo

Ramapo Police Department responded to calls after shots were fired in Greenridge Way, located in the Hillcrest area on Monday, December 19.

On the scene, responding units were directed toward a residence where gunshots were heard. Ramapo officers took a 48-year-old Hillcrest man residing at that location into custody.

The scene was processed by Ramapo detectives, assisted by Rockland County Sheriff’s BCI Unit. A loaded 9mm handgun was found at the location. 

The suspect was charged with the following offenses:

- Criminal possession of a weapon- 2nd degree: loaded firearm

- Criminal possession of a weapon- 3rd degree: ammunition feeding device

- Criminal use of a firearm- 2nd degree: display firearm

- Discharge of a firearm

- Reckless endangerment - 1st degree

- Unlawful possession of certain ammunition feeding devices- 1st degree 

  The suspect was arraigned in Ramapo Court and given a court appearance on a later date. He was released on a five thousand dollar cash bail.
