Rockland’s MTA Board Nominee Speaks Out

By Idy Perl
Rockland County's MTA Board Nominee is making his voice heard.
For several years now Governor Hochul has ignored Rockland County's MTA Board nominee. For a nominee to be added on the MTA Board the governor has to officially nominate them, and the state senate then needs to confirm the appointment.
Rockland County's board seat has been empty for nearly two years, effectively robbing Rockland County from having a voice on the MTA Board. There is no one to advocate for Rockland County's needs, even though Rockland residents are affected by many of the MTA's decisions, such as the recent congestion toll, which County Executive Day spoke out about when the congestion toll was first introduced.
County Executive Ed Day has nominated Neil Cosgrove to the MTA board, but so far Hochul has ignored the nomination.
"There must be some insecurity that they're so afraid of a quarter vote," Neil Cosgrove says in a recent video posted to social media "Does Rockland County really have a voice or does Kathy Hochul want to disenfranchise Rockland County again and want to pick Rockland's candidate herself?"
