Rockland Residents on Edge as Environmental Agents Mistaken for ICE

By Rockland Daily Staff
Several Environmental Department agents were spotted in Rockland County today, creating a stir among residents who mistook them for ICE agents. The sighting comes on the heels of President Trump’s announcement that ICE agents will soon be deployed across the country to detain and deport undocumented immigrants.
Although these agents had no connection to immigration enforcement, the sight of them sparked fear, particularly among those concerned about the heightened focus on deportations. For some, it feels like a matter of time before ICE agents are actively working in New York, targeting individuals deemed to be here illegally.
Just this morning, the White House press secretary released photos today showing deportations already underway, with immigrants being flown out of the country. Meanwhile, discussions continue in New York City over whether the NYPD will assist ICE in these operations.
