Metro-North Unveils Newly Painted Heritage Train

By Y.M. Lowy
Metro-North Railroad has revealed its sixth Heritage Series locomotive to celebrate 40 years of service.
Locomotive No. 203 was painted by Metro-North employees at the North White Plains Paint Shop. The design restores the silver and blue look first used in 1979, when the MTA operated similar trains on the Hudson and Harlem lines. Those trains later became part of Metro-North when it launched in 1983.
The train will begin carrying passengers on Friday. The Heritage Series trains run on the Hudson, Harlem, New Haven, and Pascack Valley Lines. Metro-North serves Spring Valley directly on the Pascack Valley Line.
