Kids Cook: Parsha Peanut Chews
Make a parsha connection with your Kids Cook when putting together these popular peanut chew treats, which will remind everyone that in this week's parsha, Yakov Avinu mentions that he buried Rochel on the way to Beis Lechem.
You will need:
- One cup peanut butter
- One cup corn syrup
- One cup sugar
- 5 cups rice crispies
- Baking chocolate
Step #1
Place the peanut butter, corn syrup, and sugar in a bowl. Melt it over low heat on the stovetop (preferably in a double boiler so the chocolate doesn't burn) or in the microwave in thirty-second increments to prevent burned chocolate.
Step #2
Once the mixture is melted, add 5 cups of rice crispies and mix until well combined.
Step #3
Place the peanut chew mixture on a cookie sheet and flatten as much as possible.
Step #4
Cut out a rectangle shape from your flattened mixture then take a shot cup and cut out a half circle along an edge of the peanut chew.
Step #5
Melt more plain chocolate. Fill a piping bag with the melted chocolate and use some to stick together the half circle on the left side top of the rectangle.
Step #6
With the melted chocolate, draw a brick-like wall on the rectangle peanut chew and spread chocolate on the dome of the Kever and for the door.
Step #7
Repeat steps 1 - 6 as needed.
Enjoy!
