Rockland County Appoints New Deputy Fire Coordinator

Rockland County Appoints New Deputy Fire Coordinator

By Idy Perl

Rockland County has appointed a new Deputy Fire Coordinator to assist in managing all fire related matters in the county.

Since Ramapo's towns each have multiple fire departments, with Rockland County having a total of 26 fire companies, several coordinators are appointed in each county to help streamline the many aspects that go into running the fire companies, such as trainings, fire responses, and much more.

Andrew Schlissel, former chief and member of the Monsey Fire Department for 40 years, was officially appointed to the position today after being nominated by fire chiefs from the Ramapo area and confirmed by the Rockland County Legislature.

"Andy is widely respected and will represent the Deputy Coordinators with poise, confidence, and professionalism," Director-Fire Coordinator Christopher Kear said.
