Former State Sen. Elijah Reichlin-Melnick Announces 2024 Campaign for 38th Senate District

Former Senator Elijah Reichlin-Melnick (D) announced today he is seeking re-election to the 38th District State Senate seat he held from 2021-2022. Reichlin-Melnick beat Republican Bill Weber in 2020 but lost a rematch in 2022. Now, the two will face off for the third consecutive election.
During his time in the Senate, Reichlin-Melnick was the most productive freshman Senator in either party, passing 90 bills through the Senate in just two years, including bills to keep kids safe from gun violence at school, lead exposure at home, and criminals and sex offenders at day camps. Other major legislation passed by Sen. Reichlin-Melnick included bills strengthening the State Comptroller’s oversight authority for multi-million dollar state contracts, reducing property taxes for volunteer firefighters and EMS workers, and ensuring adequate funding for vital early intervention services for young children with developmental delays. He also brought back more than $10 million in state grant funding to Rockland infrastructure projects, law enforcement agencies, non-profit organizations, fire departments, EMS companies, and libraries.
Reichlin-Melnick will kick off his campaign with a rally on the steps of the Rockland County Courthouse in New City at 1 pm on June 25.
