Camp Fun Invites Town of Ramapo Leaders for Day of Hakaras Hatov

by M.C. Millman

On Friday, Camp Fun welcomed a visit by Town of Ramapo Supervisor Specht, Chief of Staff Mona Montal, Director of Parks and Recreation Michelle Antosca, and Community Police Officer Juliann Franklin.

The visitors were greeted in true Camp Fun style with an invitation to ride in the parade of vehicles as the guests of honor. As they drove into the camp with flashing lights, sirens, and celebratory music, the guests were welcomed by an entourage of cheering campers.

"We want to say thank you to Menny, a great, great leader," Mona Montal, Town of Ramapo Chief of Staff, shared with the campers, "because when he was about a little older than your age, that's when we met for the first time. And I saw him grow, and I knew his grandfather, his father, and most of his family, and to say that I'm proud of where he is would be an understatement. I'm also very proud that when all of you were in a different state, and the supervisor and I were having a piece of pizza, and we saw Camp Fun having fun, it was the kind of children and kind of counselors that made us proud to have Camp Fun in the Town of Ramapo."

"We're here today to say thank you to Supervisor Specht and Mrs. Montal," Menny Schwab, Camp Fun Director, told his campers during the event. "They are always there for the camps, helping secure locations and the community at large together with their staff. That is why we invited them here to show our hakaras hatov, but not just today because hakaras hatov is l'olam va'ed - it lasts forever. And so, from all the campers, myself, and the entire community, we want to thank you!

"I want to give a very big thank you to Mrs. Montal and Supervisor Specht for working tirelessly for the kids of the Town of Ramapo to have fun and recreation throughout the summer. Also, Officer Julianne Franklin, is a very good and responsive friend of Camp Fun. Thanks to Michelle Antosca, our very helpful Department of Parks director, who is always available for the local parks' youth and helps all the camps secure park permits when needed. Recreation Constituent Service Assistant Penny Mann is another great advocate and friend of our local camps. We were glad to have the opportunity to thank all those who made this summer one that's been a lot of fun here at Camp Fun and throughout Rockland."

"I want to thank Menny Schwab and all the counselors and campers at Camp Fun for the amazing welcome they gave us," Town of Ramapo Supervisor Michel Specht shares with Rockland Daily. "The enthusiasm and joy of the campers brightened up our entire weekend. We are so proud to have such a great camp and such wonderful kids in our town!"
