Bridge Chaos: Armed Carjacking on George Washington Bridge Ends in Arrest

Details released today reveal that an attempted carjacking on the George Washington Bridge led to the arrest of Frederick Antonio Castillo, who was found with a loaded firearm after trapping himself in a construction shed. 

The incident,  occurred around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday when a car with two men crashed into a woman’s car. The two suspects exited their damaged car and attempted to force their way into her car, but the woman locked her doors and escaped unharmed. 

The suspects fled the scene, with one of them throwing a backpack off the bridge. Police found a handgun and ammunition they had discarded. 

One suspect was later apprehended on the New Jersey side after he accidentally locked himself inside a construction shed. 

Castillo is facing charges of attempted robbery and illegal possession of firearms while his accomplice is still on the loose.
