BDE: The Lizensker Rebbe, zt”l

We are deeply saddened to inform you of the passing of the
Lizensker Rebbe, Rav Yosef Meir Mayer, zt”l, who headed the Lizensker yeshiva
in Monsey for decades.
He was 75 years of age, and had been battling an illness.
He was born to in Budapest following the war to his father,
Rav Shem Tov Mayer, a descendants of great rabbonim. The home was permeated
with chessed for all.
From the youngest age, it was clear that he was destined for
greatness; his entire conduct was elevated, and he spent most of his time
learning. In America he learned under the Divrei Yoel of Satmar, becoming his
prize talmid.
Unsurprisingly, the Tosher Rebbe, zt”l, chose him as
a son in law—and cherished him all of his life.
He opened Yeshiva No’am Elimelech in Monsey, where he shaped
thousands of talmidim over the decades, and amassed a sizable following.
The Rebbe struggled with an illness in recent year, and
traveled to Eretz Yisroel recently, where he was niftar in a sudden manner
