BDE: Reb Yisachar Follman, z”l
We are saddened to inform you of the passing of Reb Yisochor Follman, a pillar of the Satmar kehillah in Monsey. He was 70 years of age.
The Follman family traces their roots to generations of Sanzer chassidim in Galicia. Upon arriving in America, his father, Reb Avrohom Yehoshua Hershel, settled in Williamsburg and became close to the Satmar Rov, zt”l.
Reb Yisachar was shaped by these years in postwar Williamsburg, representing the rebirth from the great Churban. He married into the famed Schlesinger family of Williamsburg, of “Shlesinger Hardware” fame.
A number of years ago, he moved to Monsey, where he was one of the heads of the Satmar Kehillah, involved in the growth of all its institutions.
He was a great ba’al chessed, who helped countless people over the years.
The levaya will take place tonight at 10:30 at the Satmar Beis Medrash, 1 Monsey Boulevard.
