Weekend Weather: Nor’easter Will dump between 4-8 inches over Shabbos

That is correct. We still cannot pinpoint precisely how much snow Rockland will get; it depends on a number of intricate weather factors—but it is certain to be a heavy storm, with lots of wind and frigid cold.

We will see light snow throughout Friday, with some accumulation—with temperatures around freezing— ahead of the big storm.

Friday evening it begins.

Around 8:00 in the evening, the snow begins to come down heavy, peaking toward early Shabbos morning through midday.

This is shaping out to be a very big storm. Areas further to our east (such as Long Island) are almost certain to get a blizzard of around 2 feet... and the more it moves toward us, the more snow we will get. Every mile east or west will make a big difference in the amount of snow— and this is what remains unclear at this time. So, we are looking at anywhere between 4-8 inches.

What will also be a major factor is the extreme cold, and winds gusting up to 45 MPH! This will lead to “whiteout conditions,” with snow being blown around, and extreme cold temps (real feel below 0°!)—making walking to and from Shul very difficult.

As the storm moves out on Motzei Shabbos, we remain with the wind and cold through Sunday.
