Upcoming Water Main Replacement on Union Road Will Be Limited to Nighttime Hours Only
by M.C. Millman
The Village of Spring Valley received confirmation on Wednesday, June 6, that Veolia Water's plans to replace a water main on Union Road near Stone House Drive will take place at night so as to have as little effect as possible on the traffic patterns in the area.
The original plan, as reported on Rockland Daily here, was to start on Monday, June 5, and would have meant closing the road during the day. That start date was put on hold after Village of Spring Valley Trustees Sruly Eisenbach and Asher Grossman requested a site visit with Veolia to discuss a way to alleviate the traffic headache the five-to-six-week closure of Union Road from Viola Road to Maple Avenue will cause drivers.
Wednesday afternoon, Veolia Water confirmed with Eisenbach that the road work would only occur at night from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
The construction will begin Monday, June 12.
