Town Of Ramapo Hosts Pre-High Holiday Security Briefing

By Rockland Daily Staff

The Town of Ramapo hosted the first pre-High Holiday security briefing today at the Ramapo Council Room with community leaders, officials, and law enforcement in attendance.

Elected officials and agents of various law enforcement agencies, including the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force Special Operations, gave presentations on security protocals that will be put in place around the community, especially in light of the recent rise in antisemitism since October 7th.

Ramapo Police Chief Dan Hyman discussed the enhanced security that will be deployed during the holidays near shuls and in places where large gatherings are expected. There will also be additional officers visibly patrolling residential areas to deter criminals and ensure that all residents are safe throughout the holiday. Supervisor Michael Specht emphasized the shared responsibility between residents and law enforcement, and stressed the importance of pedestrians following safety and traffic laws and staying alert.

Representatives from the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force Special Operations reaffirmed their strong relationship with the Ramapo Police Department, and assured community leaders that they are constantly monitoring the activity in Rockland and prioritizing the safety of the residents.

Community leaders thanked the law enforcement officials for their ongoing efforts and dedication to the safety of Ramapo's residents, and for taking preemtive measures to protect the community during the holidays.
