Stony Point Town Supervisor Announces Retirement

By Idy Perl
After a decade of service to Stony Point residents, Town Supervisor Jim Monaghan announced that he will not be running for re-election and will retire his post at the end of the year.
Monaghan entered office shortly after Hurricane Sandy in 2012, and was instrumental in rebuilding the town from the damage left in the wake of the hurricane. During his time in office he spearheaded several different initiatives such as the Military Tribute Banner Program, which honors local service members by placing flags on light poles throughout Stony Point. His administration also built a new senior community center, improved local parks, and renovated the Town Hall.
Monagan has endorsed Amy Stamm, who is currently serving as Deputy Town Supervisor and has worked together with him in the last few years, to replace him once his term is up.
