Rockland Responds: County Executive Ed Day Responds to Question on Robocalls
Are there any suggestions you can provide for getting off all the call lists that don't stop ringing my phone off the hook? I am constantly getting robocalls from places I have never heard of nor care to be involved in.
I have not even lived in Rockland for a year, and it's driving me crazy.

Dear Resident,
The County of Rockland understands how frustrating receiving robocalls can be as many within this administration fall victim to them, along with our residents. The County has no involvement or jurisdiction over these matters, but according to the Department of State, the Do Not Call (DNC) Registry allows you to register your landline and cell phone number in one central database to limit the telemarketing calls you receive. Once you register your phone number, telemarketers not exempt from the DNC Registry have up to 31 days from the date you register to stop calling you. The DNC Registry will not stop all telemarketers from calling you. Calls from or on behalf of political organizations, charities, and telephone surveyors are exempt. Companies with an existing business relationship may still call you (unless you ask them to place your number on their own do-not-call list).
The Federal Communications Commission instructs residents to register their numbers on the national Do Not Call list at no cost by calling 1-888-382-1222 (voice) or 1-866-290-4236 (TTY). You must call from the phone number you wish to register. You can also register at donotcall.gov.
