"The attack on Israel is horrifying and another reminder that the world’s oldest hatred is alive and well," Senator Bill Weber posted on X on the first day of the war. "These terrorists and their supporters have no place in the modern world. I stand with Israel today and always, and I encourage you to as well. Please keep the dead, the suffering, and all the people of Israel in your thoughts and prayers today and in the days to come. Please join me in praying for the safety of our Rockland Law Enforcement officials who are currently in 'Israel learning terrorism and antisemitism protocols Saturday when they got caught up in the shocking attacks across Israel.'"
The Rockland Law Enforcement officials that Weber mentioned are part of a group of 20 to 30 police chiefs and senior law enforcement officers from Rockland as well as Westchester, Long Island, and New York City who arrived 24 hours before the war broke out for counterterrorism and antisemitism training who are still there.
The Ramapo Police Department shared on social media, "The Ramapo Police Department would like our residents to know that the Ramapo PD has been closely monitoring the situation in Israel since early Saturday morning through our NYPD Intelligence Division partners and our Ramapo detective assigned full-time to the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force. We are also in touch with our local Rockland Intelligence Center and Crime Analysis Center. The safety of our community is paramount. We have deployed additional officers in the field. Please remember that public safety is a partnership. If you see something that doesn't look right, call the police so we can investigate."
“My administration extends sincere condolences to all the innocent lives lost in terrorist attacks in Israel Saturday," County Executive Ed Day stated in a press release on the same day. "These horrific attacks claimed the lives of at least 300 people and left over 2,000 injured. Our hearts go out to everyone impacted by an attack that can only be described as pure evil.”
