Rockland County Legislature Approve Emergency Preparedness Funding

Rockland County legislators unanimously approved a total of $124,102 in state and federal funding to be used for the county’s emergency preparedness efforts. The funds were awarded through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency and administered by the NYS Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services’ Emergency Performance Grant.
The county’s director of fire and emergency services, Chris Kear, said the funding can be used for many important tasks, including updating preparedness plans and training exercises.
The measure first passed the Public Safety Committee, chaired by County Legislator Paul Cleary, before the full board adopted it.
