Troopers Issue Thousands of Tickets Over Memorial Day Weekend

New York State Police gave out over 12,000 tickets during a traffic crackdown over Memorial Day Weekend, from Friday to Monday.
The campaign focused on drunk driving, speeding, and distracted driving. Troopers set up sobriety checkpoints and added increased patrols across the state.
Police arrested 245 people for DWI and handled 774 crashes, including three that were deadly. Most of the tickets were for speeding and not wearing seatbelts, as police worked to keep roads safe during one of the busiest travel weekends of the year.
