Rockland County Fire and Emergency Services is celebrating the 100th birthday of former Deputy Fire Coordinator and longtime firefighter Al Magnatta.
Magnatta, a WW2 veteran, served in the Congers Fire Department as a chief from 1960-1962, and as Deputy Fire Coordinator from 1962 to 2020, guiding and supporting the teams through countless challenges.
Congressman Mike Lawler took to X, formerly Twitter, to express his congratulations as well, and said, "Earlier this week, I had the chance to honor Al Magnatta on the House Floor. Today, I joined him and the Congers community to celebrate his 100th birthday. This WW2 veteran has also served almost 80 years in the Congers Fire Department. He is a living legend. Thank you, Al, for your service."
