The Willowbrook Split Rock Family Resort in the Poconos has
been exclusively reserved for the third year offering Heimishe families a
beautiful retreat for the upcoming Shabbos, Parshas Shoftim.
Rockland Dailyspeaks with the Program Director regarding the uniqueness of
this end-of-summer getaway.
What makes this retreat so unique?
Besides that, it's the perfect vacation where families
arrive at the resort and don't have to go anywhere else the entire time you are
with us, the fact that this weekend is not a money-making endeavor but one that
supports Igud Bnei Torah kollel families and rebbeim, makes everything even
better.
This is our third year arranging this vacation for over a
thousand families every summer, including many, many happy repeat customers who
are always after us during the year to find out when we are open for
registration. We even have one family returning this year and renting out many rooms to ensure the whole mishpacha can enjoy the
experience.
What is there to do at the resort?
There is a fully packed schedule that all ages will enjoy
including an on-sight indoor waterpark that can be enjoyed by babies through
adults and a swimming pool - with separate hours, bounce room, bowling,
arcades, courts, fields, and playgrounds. The is a lake with paddle boating and
kayaks, a hayride, fire truck rides, mini golf, and a playground.
Additionally, there is an eruv and mikvah available
on-premises. There are many nearby attractions, which visitors can take advantage
of after early check-in on Thursday or after checking out if they are so
inclined.
What kind of amenities can a family expect?
Families will enjoy a spacious suite with adjoining suites
available. Each suite will comfortably sleep six with an option for more. There
is a separate master bedroom, a jacuzzi or hot tub, and a kitchen. We kasher
the ovens for you before you arrive and provide a toaster oven and a hot plate.
Are meals provided?
We supply lunch and supper and delicious Shabbos food - all
prepared by Satmar Fleish in Boro Park.
Additional meals are available for purchase, and there is a
fully stocked mini-mart on campus as well.
What is the price for a stay at the resort?
There are three all-inclusive, full-family, affordable
pricing plans for this last week of the summer, including all amenities.
The weekend stay, which is from Thursday, August
17- Monday, August 14 - $1,875
The Midweek stay, which is from Monday, August
14- Thursday, August 24 - $1,399
The entire week stay from Thursday, August 17 -
Thursday, August 24 - $3,150
How do you manage to keep the price so low?
Whereas our goal is to raise funds to subsidize the kollel
families and rebbeim who come for a vacation, when we open for the public
during our fourth week of the season, we understand all families need a
vacation at an affordable price.
That being said, the price is still so phenomenal we have
had countless people ask after we've quoted the price for the suite what the
rest of the cost is. The answer is always - that's the entire price for your
stay. You will not have to spend a dime more on any attractions or anything
else.
All the extras, cots, blow-up mattresses, whatever it takes
to make your family comfortable - it's all included in that one low price.
How would you describe the overall vibe of the
resort?
It's a heimish crowd and a happy, healthy, wholesome
atmosphere. We have music playing outside wherever you go. I was even told by a
family last year that used to pay tens of thousands of dollars for their
vacations in other resorts that there's a certain something about the
atmosphere of our resort in the Poconos and our upbeat and positive staff and
guests that you can't find anywhere else.
Best of all, all proceeds are going to tzadakah so that
knowledge adds even more to the whole experience. |
