Low-Flying Helicopter Causes Concerns

A low-flying helicopter spotted near the Monsey and Spring Valley border on Friday afternoon raised alarms among local residents, prompting a response from the Ramapo Police Department.

According to police, the call came in around 2:32 PM from a concerned resident who reported an aircraft flying at a low altitude. Officers were dispatched to the area, but by the time they arrived, the helicopter had already left the vicinity.

Witnesses shared video footage showing the aircraft flying at an undetermined altitude. Notably, a person’s arm could be seen waving from the front left seat window, adding to the mystery of the incident.

Authorities reached out to the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office, and further investigation revealed that the activity was likely tied to Fleet Week, a nationwide celebration honoring the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard. Fleet Week often includes military flyovers and aerial demonstrations.

As of now, no further incidents have been reported, and the aircraft has not returned. Officials thanked residents for their vigilance and encouraged the public to continue reporting any unusual or suspicious activity.
