Is Canadian Smoke Returning to New York?

By Idy Perl
Wildfires have been raging through Canada the last few days, burning through more than 16,000 acres, and forcing thousands of people to evacuate their homes.
Smoke from the wildfires has caused Canada Environment to issue a special air quality statement that extends from British Columbia to Ontario. Smoke has also started blowing into Minnesota, along the Canadian border.
If conditions don’t improve, it may reach northern New York as well. However, the expected rain this week should prevent bad air quality conditions like the eerie smoke that covered New York in June of last year.
Time will tell.
