Hudson Valley Travelers Prepare for Possible NJ Transit Strike

By Y.M. Lowy
As a potential NJ Transit strike approaches, the MTA is
taking proactive measures to support Metro-North riders traveling west of the
Hudson River.
Starting today, tickets from the Port Jervis and Pascack
Valley Lines will be accepted on Metro-North’s Hudson and Harlem Lines. This
change provides commuters from Rockland and Orange Counties an opportunity to
explore new routes before any disruptions occur. A strike by NJ Transit
engineers could potentially begin as soon as this Friday.
“We want our riders to plan ahead, not panic,” said
Metro-North President Justin Vonashek. “This gives them options and time to
make their choices.”
The MTA also encourages riders to consider other transportation options, such as buses and ferries. Officials are still hopeful that the strike can be avoided.
