Assembly Member Aron Wieder Delivers for the 97th District with Advocacy and Community Engagement

Assembly Member Aron Wieder has dedicated a demanding week in Albany to securing resources for the 97th District while actively participating in community events across Ramapo and beyond, including New Hempstead, New Square, Spring Valley, and Brooklyn. His focus remains on addressing constituent priorities: affordable housing, safer roads, and more recreational spaces for youth.

Advocacy in Albany

In Albany, Wieder championed increased funding for the 97th District’s critical needs, engaging state leaders to prioritize affordable housing, road safety, and youth facilities. His legislative efforts also included securing the passage of the new chinuch bill, supporting educational initiatives, earning recognition from community leaders.

“Our communities deserve every resource we can deliver,” Wieder said. “I’m fighting for housing, safety, parks, and education to strengthen the 97th District.”

Lag BaOmer Celebrations

During Lag BaOmer, Wieder joined the groundbreaking for Kehilas Zichron Yaakov in New Hempstead. That evening, he attended the New Square hadluka, where the Skverer Rebbe lit the fire, inspiring thousands. Wieder sat with Mayor Izzy Spitzer, sharing in the celebration. On Friday, he participated in the Imrei Shefer school’s hadluka, featuring Hassidic singer Beri Weber. Wieder was honored to join in lighting the fire and was thanked for his work on the chinuch bill.

Community Engagement

On Sunday, Wieder’s hands-on leadership shone at multiple events. At the Community Outreach Center’s Safety Awareness Day in Ramapo, organized by Rabbi Hershel Horowitz with Supervisor Michael Specht, Police Chief Hyman, and Legislator Wolfe, Wieder distributed bike helmets to children, reinforcing safety priorities. Residents urged funding for safer roads.

At Pomona’s sports day with Legislator Cleary, Wieder thanked Cleary for his care and funding for the area’s youth, commending the beautiful new court and playground funded by the county’s ARPA grant. Families emphasized the need for more outdoor space and activities for the youth.

At Spring Valley’s vibrant Haitian parade, Wieder joined fellow state and local officials in a celebration filled with color, culture, and community pride. Haitian flags waved proudly as residents gathered along the streets, showcasing the strength and unity of the community. Constituents used the occasion not only to celebrate their heritage but also to call for more affordable housing to support the area’s rich and diverse Haitian population. Many thanked Wieder for his continued efforts in addressing housing and other pressing issues affecting the community.

Later that evening, Wieder joined the Bnos Tsion of Bobov dinner in Brooklyn, participating in a panel with Assembly Members Burger, Eichenstein, and Yeger to discuss the recently passed chinuch bill. The Bobover Rebbe attended the dinner later that evening, offering each assembly member a heartfelt blessing for their accomplishment and wishing them success in their continued community work.

Delivering Results

On Sunday, residents consistently raised concerns about housing, road safety, and youth recreational opportunities, and Wieder pledged to translate these priorities into action through his work in Albany.

“Assembly Member Wieder listens and delivers,” said a Spring Valley resident at the Haitian parade. “His commitment is building a stronger community.”

Wieder’s ongoing efforts in Albany aim to secure tangible improvements in housing, infrastructure, recreation, and education for a vibrant 97th District.
