Fatal Crash in Clarkstown Claims Life of New Jersey Man


A fatal motor vehicle accident on Wednesday morning claimed the life of a 42-year-old man from New Jersey after a crash involving a dump truck and a compact car.

According to a statement from the Clarkstown Police Department, the crash occurred around 9:20 a.m. at the intersection of Route 303 and Hemlock Drive in Congers. Responding officers discovered a Peterbilt dump truck blocking both lanes of the road, while a white Kia Soul had veered off the roadway into a grassy area, sustaining severe damage.

Emergency responders from the Congers-Valley Cottage Ambulance Corps and Rockland Paramedics provided life-saving aid to the driver of the Kia, but he was later pronounced deceased at Nyack Montefiore Hospital. Authorities are withholding his identity pending family notification.

The driver of the dump truck was not injured and remained at the scene as police launched an investigation into the circumstances of the crash. No other injuries were reported.
