Congressman Lawler Slams Hochul's Inflation Refund Program
By Idy Perl
Governor Hochul recently announced an inflation refund program which would give families between $300-$500, depending on income.
Governor Hochul said the checks will be paid by a sales tax surplus, which essentially means the money is going from New Yorkers' pockets to the state, and now back into our pockets, only to soon go out once again in new tolls and taxes like the congestion toll soon going into effect in Manhattan.
Congressman Mike Lawler is slamming the refund initiative, and took to Twitter to say:
"Giving New Yorkers $500 back while taking thousands more from them in new tolls and taxes isn't relief; it's a slap in the face to those barely getting by. New Yorkers need real relief, and I'm going to keep fighting to deliver it."
