BDE: Mrs. Esther Tillim, a"h, Menaheles of Bais Rochel for Decades

YS Gold

We regret to inform you of the passing of Mrs. Esther Malka Tillim, a longtime Monsey resident, and a decades-long mechaneches in the community. She was in her mid seventies.

The nifteres hailed from the Eisen family of Baltimore, a family that stood stalwart against the winds of American assimilation, and raised a Torah-true family.

Mrs. Tillim was the wife of Reb Chaim, z"l, a well-known personality in the Monsey community, a gabbai to the Ribnitzer Rebbe,  and the son of Reb Reuven Tillim who owned a textile store in old Monsey at least as early as the 1960's.

The nifteres was the menaheles of the Bais Rochel girls school where she was known for her supreme dedication to each and every talmidah within the school. She was known as a brilliant person and a brilliant and sensitive educator. One bereft former student related that Mrs. Tillim was her best principal, and without her she doesn't know where she would be in life. Her devotion to her talmidos continued even after they left the school; she would make the effort to attend every student's wedding.

With her passing this morning, she leaves behind a beautiful Torah family, and a sterling legacy of chinuch in the Monsey community.

The levaya will take place this afternoon at 2:00 at the Tillim home 6 Treetop Lane in Monsey.

Yehi zichra baruch.

BDE: R' Yosef Tzvi Gelb, z"l
