A New York driver was hit with 106 tickets for fleeing from police.
Joseph S. Salazar, age 26, of the Bronx, was awarded 106 tickets and arrested on Wednesday, June 28, after fleeing the police in May.
The incident began in Harriman State Park in Stony Point on Sunday, May 28, when Salazar fled a traffic stop. While trying to leave the officers behind, he struck a New York State Park Police vehicle. He then tore off southbound on the Palisades Interstate Parkway. His speeding Dodge was chased for about 22 minutes, but the chase was called off near Tarrytown for safety reasons.
Salazar was arrested by police who were waiting for him when he came to pick up his car from a repair shop in Sullivan County last Wednesday.
After being issued 106 tickets from the police chase in May, Salazar was also charged with endangering the welfare of a child; obstruction of governmental administration; reckless driving; fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle; aggravated unlicensed operator; and reckless endangerment.
