Trio of Overnight Vehicle Break-ins in Spring Valley
By Chana Weinman
A few residents reported items stolen from vehicles parked overnight in the Herrick and Westside Avenue area in Spring Valley.
"My husband came home about 1 a.m. from shopping for Shabbos," an area resident shares with Rockland Daily. "He saw a homeless person wandering the street at the time but didn't think anything of it."
While passersby did not take note of the thief in action, there were those residents who woke in the morning to discover that the night owl had stolen the valuables in their cars but was long gone. Though no car windows were broken, it seemed the thief had an easy enough time just opening the doors to go through the unlocked cars on the street.
Despite the ongoing requests from local police departments and Chaverim of Rockland to always lock vehicles, as unlocked cars provide easy access and are involved in the majority of break-ins in the area, last night served as yet another reminder of the same.
