Suspect In 2022 Hit-And-Run Who Fled The Country Sentenced In Rockland County

Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh, II, announced today that Thomas Robb, 22, of the United Kingdom, who pled guilty on March 11th to several charges related to an incident from July 2022, was sentenced today, May 1, in County Court of Rockland County to 364 days on each count of the 11-count indictment to run concurrently with each other.
Robb was charged with three counts of Assault in the Second Degree, three counts of leaving the scene of an incident resulting in serious physical injury, two counts of Assault in the Third Degree, and two counts of leaving the scene of an incident causing physical injury and reckless driving after an incident on July 30, 2022. The accident occured when Robb drove in the wrong direction down a one-way street on North Greenbush Road and continued onto Route 303 in Blauvelt, NY in the wrong direction and into oncoming traffic. His vehicle, a BMW SUV was traveling at an excessive speed of between 49 to 60 mph and struck a 2017 Chevrolet Cruz which ricocheted into a 2021 Dodge Charger carrying several individuals, including children. Robb exited his vehicle and immediately fled the scene. He was apprehended nearby by a police officer from the Town of Orangetown Police Department.
Robb was charged in the Town of Orangetown Justice Court and was released on bail the following day. On August 2, 2022, Robb used his twin brother’s passport and boarded a flight from Baltimore/Thurgood Marshall Airport in Maryland to London and fled the United States. The defendant was subsequently indicted by the grand jury of Rockland County and an arrest warrant issued. The Office of the DA commenced extradition proceedings in 2023 against the defendant with the assistance from the United States Department of Justice, resulting in his extradition back to the United States in January of 2025.

"We will not tolerate anyone who flees from the jurisdiction of our courts. Our prayers continue for the health and welfare of the victims."
