School Bus With Students on Board Hits Brick Wall
A school bus carrying nine students from Yeshiva of Spring Valley Girls School crashed into a brick wall yesterday on the route home from school.
North Rockland Safety Patrol of New York (NRSPNY) responded to the scene and worked together with the Haverstraw Police Department to calm the resulting chaos at the scene. The accident happened at the intersection of Woodfield Road and South Ridge in Pomona.
Hatzoloh of Rockland transported the driver and one student to the hospital with minor injuries.
"Baruch Hashem, we were able to get everyone out quickly through the emergency exits of the bus," Joel Neuman, Captain of NRSP shares with Rockland Daily. "The kids were shaken up, and some had minor injuries. Hatzalah members and NRSP members were treating the patients and contacting the parents to let them know what had happened and that everyone was safe. The driver and one student who had a hand injury were transported by Hatzalah to the hospitals."
Due to the extensive damage to the brick wall, it took nearly four hours to reopen the intersection as professionals were first called in to assess the severity of the damage to the wall and to prevent further collapse.
