Rockland's 2024 Proposed Budget Affirmed By New York State Comptroller

Rockland Daily Staff
The New York State Comptroller's Office has approved Rockland County Executive Ed Day's 2024 Proposed Budget.
The New York State Comptroller's Office reviewed the proposed $870 million 2024 spending plan, which includes a 2% property tax cut, more college tuition assistance for volunteer firefighters and emergency responders, and more investments in social services.
"Based on the results of our review, we found that the significant revenue and expenditure projections in the proposed budget are reasonable," writes Assistant Comptroller Randy L. Partridge in a letter to the County Executive and members of the Rockland County Legislature.
This is the 10th and final review from the New York State Comptroller’s Office, as the County’s deficit bond will be paid off in 2024.
"The budget and finance committee are working very hard on this year's budget," Rockland's Chair of the Budget and Finance Committee Legislator Aron Wieder shares with Rockland Daily. "Tonight, there is going to be a public hearing as the budget has not yet been adopted. It will be at 7:00 at the Rockland County Legislature. I invited Rockland residents to attend so they can speak to the Chair Budget and Finance Committee before the budget is adopted. The budget has been a collaborative endeavor between the County Executive's office and the County Legislature. I would like to thank Finance Commissioner Stephen DeGroat and Deputy Budget Director Steve Grogan for their collaborative efforts in putting together this very promising budget.
