New Shabbos Fire Patrol in Monsey
By Idy Perl
For the first time, Monsey’s fire department is starting a Shabbos patrol.
The patrol will drive around on Shabbos in a red fire department vehicle, and residents can flag it down in case of emergency, or situations that can turn into an emergency.
This initiative was launched since many people hold back from calling for emergency services on Shabbos, often waiting until its too late. The new patrol will hopefully give people an easy way to get help on Shabbos in case of fire, carbon monoxide, or smoke.
If there is an emergency, don’t wait until you see the patrol car. Every second counts during a fire so call for help immediately.
