Clarkstown's Paramount Country Club Shares Residential Development Plan
by M.C. Millman
Paramount Country Club proposed a new residential development plan in Clarkstown with a declared goal of preserving green space while enhancing community life.
The proposed residential project provides substantial benefits to the residents of Clarkstown, including absolute preservation of green space through deed restriction, increased net tax revenue of over $3,000,000 a year, and housing for first responders.
The planned residential development will ensure the preservation of the area's scenic view along Zukor Road while offering a compatible residential expansion that is aligned with community values.
At the same time, the integration of new residents as social members of the Club will bolster the Club's position as a cornerstone for recreation and gatherings. The new memberships will allow for the golf course to remain intact and even allow for enhancements and upgrades as opposed to the New York Country Club's 150 acres in New Hempstead, which is expected to be completely developed into homes, and the Minisceongo Golf Club in Ramapo, where 637 townhouses are in the works.
This is not the first time that Paramount Country Club has presented a residential plan for the property. According to RCBJ, in 2021, Paramount Country Club suggested building 200 townhomes and five single-family houses.
The new plan presented this week has the stated goal of building 247 homes on the 36 vacant acres beside the golf course and country club. The plan includes 128 townhouses, 84 condominiums, 33 single-family golf villas, and two single-family lots, along with 531 parking spaces, a golf course, dining facilities, pools, tennis and pickleball courts, and a gym.
