The Belzer community in Monsey was stunned this afternoon by the tragic news of the passing of R’ Menachem Mendel Lipa Monheit, z”l, following a few days in which he had not been feeling well. He was 44 years of age.

The niftar was born in the Belzer community in Montreal and was educated in the Belzer cheder.

Tragedy struck the family when his father was niftar when he was twelve years old.

He got married in Monsey and settled there. For decades, he drove school buses for the Belzer mosdos in Monsey, and was always known for his smile and good demeanor.

“He was my children’s bus driver. He always smiled and was always patient with the children and the parents,” recalled one parent.

R’ Lipa is remembered as a wise person, an extremely dedicated father, and knowledgeable on every topic.

A yungerman who remembers the niftar since childhood recalls that he never became bitter despite the many challenges that he encountered in life. He always accepted everything with emunah and bitachon.

The levaya will take place this evening at 9:45 at the Belzer shtiebel on Morris Road.

As noted, the community is reeling from this terrible loss.
